What should I wear?

There is no dress code – within reason! Most people come in fairly casual clothes.

Is there anywhere to park?

At Brewood, there is a limited amount of street parking available in the village, but it can get a little busy at times. In addition, though, in School Road, just opposite the path leading up to the main entrance of the church, is the Middle School Car Park which we are allowed to use for our Sunday services.

At Bishops Wood, there is a small car park available next to the church. In addition, you can park on the streets just further up from the church, though these roads can also get a little busy.

Are there steps into the Church?

Access to Brewood Church is all on a single level and is very wheelchair and push-chair friendly. A ramp leading to the main door offers easy access at Bishops Wood Church.

Is there a toilet in the church?

Yes.

Is there any provision for my children?

There is a quiet area for children within the church where there are activities set out linked to the theme of the service, as well as some books and soft toys.

At Brewood, we have Sunday School provision at most morning services. At Wide Open Worship (WOW) we encourage intergenerational engagement through a variety of worship styles. Our Messy Church services are held in an afternoon where we welcome whole families from the youngest to the oldest.

At Bishops Wood, the first Sunday of the month is normally an ‘All-Age Service’ where, children are more directly involved (see the Services page for further details of all these types of service).

Can I receive Communion?

Anyone who is used to receiving the bread and wine in church is welcome to receive them here. If you don’t feel able to do this, that’s fine: perhaps you would appreciate a simple prayer of blessing instead? If so, just come forward at the same time as everyone else keeping your head bowed down at the communion rail and we’ll gladly pray with you.

Will I be expected to give money?

Every church service is free for anyone to attend. However, we believe that an important part of our lives as Christians is to give some of our money to support God’s work – so if you would like to give there will be an opportunity during the service. If you also complete one of the gift aid envelopes available on the pews it will enable the church to benefit from the basic rate income tax on your gift. At Brewood we are also experimenting with a new card payment machine, fixed at the back of church, and set up to invite one-off donations via the contactless symbol on a debit or credit card.

In addition we invite donations of food (not fresh food) to support the work of the Wolverhampton Food Bank and the Good Shepherd. Any tins or packets for this can be left in the boxes at the back of church.

Are there any refreshments?

Yes, at our 10.00 morning services. Tea and coffee (and biscuits) are available free-of-charge at the end of the service. (though donations are always welcome!)

How can I keep in touch?

Details of who’s who and how to contact them can be found on our Contacts page.
